Toronto Stock Exchange TSX (formerly TSE)
The principle stock exchange in Canada is the Toronto Stock Exchange. It is the 3rd largest stock exchange in North America (behind the NYSE and NASDAQ) and in the top 10 in the world. As the name implies, it is based in Toronto, Ontario. The majority of Canadian held stock investments are of companies traded on this exchange. The exchange features standard Canadian corporation securities, depositary shares of foreign corporations, REITs, income trusts, ETFs, and other investment instruments.
Since 2000, the TSX has been a private, publicly traded company. The current name of the company is the TMX group. They are owners also of the TSX Venture Exchange.
